Plateaus are part of the plan
Why every real weight-loss journey has flat stretches, and what to do with them. A 2-minute lesson from the neo academy.
Weight loss is a staircase, not a slide. Nearly everyone experiences stretches, sometimes two to four weeks, where the scale barely moves, even though everything is on track.
Your body actively defends its weight. After a period of loss, it recalibrates: metabolism adjusts, water shifts, and progress pauses while your body catches up with its new normal.
A plateau after visible progress is usually a sign of consolidation, not failure. Many members find the scale drops again in a 'whoosh' after a flat stretch.
The riskiest response to a plateau is drastic action: crash restriction or giving up. The best response is boring: keep the same habits running and let the stall pass.
Flat stretches are normal consolidation. Consistency outlasts them.
